This beautiful home in the heart of the Colorado Rockies is surrounded by trees and breathtaking views; consequently, the architecture incorporates numerous massive windows. The free-span ceiling creates an exaggerated feeling of spaciousness. A large stone fireplace dominates the great room and is the center of attention. The lighting design for this home is practical in function, flatters the featured design elements, and is consistent with the architectural intent.

The open feeling of the great room dictated that the lighting be inconspicuous and not intrude into the space. Low-voltage downlights with pinhole trims provide uniform functional lighting throughout the seating area. These "cutoff" luminaires eliminate veiling reflections off the windows and allow glare-free viewing of the exterior surroundings. The trims were field painted to match the wood ceilings making these fixtures virtually disappear.
